Bitcoin's game theory appears to be unfolding. Shortly after the Japanese firm, Metaplanet, published its white paper, stating they were following Michael Saylorā€™s BTC accumulation playbook, a new public non-Bitcoin company announced the initiation of their Bitcoin strategy. This week, Semler Scientific shocked the market, announcing a $40 million Bitcoin purchase, amassing 581 Bitcoin as part of their "Bitcoin treasury strategy."

If you've been following the space, you might agree that what was once seen as a bold move by MicroStrategy was bound to evolve into a movement. However, the story doesn't stop with institutions; politics seems to have entered the game as well.

As we near the US elections this fall, it appears that the Republicans are acknowledging the approximately 50 million Bitcoin and "crypto" holders who aim to make their voices heard. Last weekend, news emerged that Donald Trump pledged to safeguard self-custody of Bitcoin and to free Ross Ulbricht on his first day in office if he becomes president.

It's evident that Bitcoin has become a new political tool, as demonstrated by its current use by Trump, and it will likely be leveraged by Biden as well. Personally, I'm skeptical of anything from politicians, but the fact that candidates are targeting this segment of the populationā€”Bitcoinersā€”right after Bitcoin Spot ETFs have become the best performing ETFs in history is quite validating.

Perhaps it is true that 2024 is shaping up to become the first Bitcoin election.
